Well, detection of collisions is not shocking. Everyone knows that hashes will have collisions. But if you have an algorithm that can generate a key with same hash then you have a problem.

This is definitely a good news for Eve. And Alice and Bob should be worried and start looking for a better hash function. If you dont understand why, you need to know who are.
