Some Random Thoughts..
Just a place to put some random thoughts..

Hi,

Last night I saw at IMAX. I wanted to see this on the last weekend but my roommates thought watching Harry Potter movie is a childish thing to do and they would rather sleep early than give chance to people to call them children. Yesterday I had finally found some company. I volunteered (a highly unusual thing for me to do) to go an hour earlier and book tickets.

But it was all worth it. This is one of those rare true-to-the-book movies. Let me confess that I'm a big Potter fan and can name spells and remember names of the professors. (My colleague's 7-year-old got highly impressed by me when I told him Neville Longbottom's history).

They have managed to keep the movie very much British. You don't notice the cool special effects while watching the movie and that is a compliment. It is just too perfect. I would give it 5-stars and give a chance to people to call me childish. But I am predicting a few oscars for the movie.

I would love to watch it again. Maybe over the weekend. :)

Hi,

Some days ago, I came cross a news and according to it . I don't know if this was supposed to be a joke but I think everyone should take it as one and have a hearty laugh. I hope Mr. Sudershan was being subtly sarcastic and somehow all the sarcasm was lost in translation. Maybe he should have advised Hindus to produce not less that 17 (seventeen) children to make sure that people understand the sarcasm. Subtlety is lost over stupid people.

I don't know about you but I am waiting for some more highly entertaining, full of subtle sarcastic humor speeches from Sudershan. They are anyday better than watching Great Indian Laughter challenge on TV.

Hi,

India will play against SA on Friday in Kolkata. And the prince of Kolkata will not be captaining the side. Well, he will not be in the team at all. This has shocked people in Kolkata and some of them have decided to boycott the match. Best of luck to them. Yesterday I saw some Bengali film actress on TV arguing that you should not be kicked out of the team just because you are not playing well for just over a year. No wonder bollywood films are what they are (i.e. crap) today. With an attitude like that its pretty clear that the film industry is full of incompetent people. Its like giving an IT programming job to someone who cant program. Well.. Oh, Crap!

By the way, Ganguly is in the test squad as a allrounder-batsman. You can expect atleast one century from him. And remember you read this prediction here first.

Hi,

I have just added a new gadget to my I-WANT-THIS list. First one in the list is (yet unreleased) Intel Powerbook. I am adding as the second one.

This gadged looks good. I have some rules for the gadgets and the first one is that it has to be small and light. Sanyo Xacti C5 is very portable and it combines a 5M digital camera with a video camera. It uses SD cards which are kind of costly right now. But I am sure eventually we will get cheap SD cards. Flash range and optical zoom are also not upto my expectations. I want 10x zoom and atleast 10 feet flash range. I hope in the next version they will fix these things.

Hi,

Last Saturday (5th Nov) I went for a movie called "Shaadi No.1". I am planning to earn some karma points by NOT linking to the movie site here. Yes it's that bad. Well.. no, it's even worse. Its so bad that I am not able to find a way to describe it.

But I am an optimist by nature and can see only good things. Good thing about this movie is that you can go to any theatre that is playing this movie and find the tickets available. Another good thing about this movie is male:female ratio is almost two. Some people might find that interesting. I am pretty sure that people who like to find patterns in everything (e.g. John Nash, Douglas Hofstadter) will have a good time. This movie is based on a simple following pattern:

Hero 1: (says something)
Heroine 1: (says something)
Hero 2: (says something)
Heroine 2: (says something)
Hero 3: (says something)
Heroine 3: (says something)
Sanjay Dutt: (Says something)

and then it goes for the next iteration. Pretty logical.

I would suggest people to go to the nearest park and watch the paint on the bench dry rather than going for this movie. Just for the record.

Hi,

Not long ago, if you would have asked a kid, what he would want to be when he would grow up, you would have got answers like doctor, engineer or (if the kid is very ambitious) train engine driver. Not anymore. There is a high probability that answer to this question today is "Imraan Hashmi".

This man has made his mark on Indian film industry. If Imraan Hashmi is in the movie then you can be sure that movie has one or two good looking babes, atleast five lip-locking scenes, a couple of indecent item numbers and a reasonably good music. As the rumor goes, Imraam Hashmi pays the producer to cast him instead of getting paid by the producer. One of my roommates told me that Imraan is the real producer of these movies. This must be true because this roommate closely follows indian film industry (through indiatimes.com and rediff.com).

This same roommate is working really hard (when he is not browsing indiatimes.com or rediff.com) to come up with a script for a hindi movie. The reason is the news he read in some bollywood site. According to the news, Amrita Rao is ready to go topless if the script is suitable. Now THAT is some motivation. His plan is simple. Come up with a suitable script for the gorgeous babe and get Imraan Hashmi to produce it.

I hope it works out.. I really do!
