Some Random Thoughts..
Just a place to put some random thoughts..

I will go home now. Tomorrow at 9 in the morning I have to go to a conference by VxWorks fame here in Bangalore. I will be spending most of the day there. They are going to talk abt their linux initiative (and it includes free lunch and all in a 5-star hotel) ;).
Friday:
As usual the weekend started at friday noon. That day I had come to office at 4 in the morning and was supposed to go home at about 2. But one thing led to another and we reached home at 7 in the evening! The cook was already there and was waiting for us. He is a flumsy (is that a defined word??) guy. He is from the state of and talks in a weird dialect. It is kinda hard to make out what he is saying sometimes. By the time we had dinner, I was finished with and started with

Saturday:
Got up at 7 in the morning because the cook (hereafter known as Prafuldas) :) was there to make breakfast. Roomie's relatives were supposed to come. I dont remember what all i did all day but in the evening I went to my cousin's place. I was planning to spent the weekend there with him.

Sunday:
Sunday was another slow day. My computer is at my cousin's place and I was there too. In the morning did some python research there. These days I am back in python world. I am planning to add proxy support in ypop. I forgot to take medicine in the morning and by the evening stomach was aching again.
Since I have decided to be good to my body, I got up early and came to office. Sometimes I think I go to extreme. Slept at 11 in the night and got up at 3:45 AM. And now I am in office. Part of the reason (well.. ONLY reason) is we have a meeting now.
For last several months (if not years) I have been abusing my body with bad habits. And now it hits back strongly. Last night the stomach ache was so bad that I could not walk properly. I took some acidity tablets but they dint work. I knew something bad is up. I should have gone to doc yesterday. But better late than never. Today morning I was feeling much better but still went to the doc. He said it could be either or some intestine infection. He has given me tablets for three days. I have to go to him again on saturday (that is if i survive till saturday!) :) I am enjoying this and having fun :)
Yes, eat well and sleep well. Thats the message that has been delivered to me by my body. Stomach is aching and I am not able to concerntrate on anything!

*Lets get dramatic*
It all started on a quiet afternoon when a smart young man (me!) got on a train to India's cyber city, Bangalore. etc. etc.

Since then I have been eating out every day and night. And a few days ago I ate a Dosa and it was the last nail in my coffin. Now am down with indigestion and doing other things (for gross description of these other things please contact me!).
Today morning I got up at 6:30 and came to office by 7:30. I had an early morning meeting . Will go home early, hopefully.

One colleague had gone to his home town, Hydrabad, for the weekend. He just got back and he got something called as for us. It is some kind of sweet. I tasted this for the first time in my life. And its awsome. I had two :)
Just like any other Monday.

The weekend was ok. Dint eat anything for the most of it. Saturday morning, I had breakfast and that made my stomach upset. So I was on a liquid diet till Sunday night.

I saw "Yuva" on Saturday night. Pretty good movie. I dont know why some people dint like it. Maybe they see so many bad films that their brains have gone numb and cant tell a good movei from a bad one. Abhishek Bacchan has done a VERY GOOD job. I hope this movie does well. He needs a hit badly.

Last night, on cable, I saw "Big Fish". A typical Tim Burton movie with good visuals, a simple story. Liked it.

One more thing: I made a note to write about the way the moon looked when we were driving back on friday night. It was amazing. It looked like this. And there was a bright twinkling star near it. I think it was Venus. Very beautiful. I dont think I will ever forget that picture. I wish I had a camera with me that time.
I have noticed one thing, whenever I post an entry after a break, I always put the title as "Hey". I dont know why.

I have been living in the new place for last three days. The house is good, well furninshed and all. Enjoying it very much. Only problem is the drive every morning to office and back. It takes almost an hour to office. And traffic and roads are hell. Hopefully the new government will do away with all the shitty roads.

Talking about government, Manmohan Singh is gonna be our new prime minister. There was an article in Economic Times that Sonia Gandhi withdrew for PM post because there were legal issues regarding her citizenship. Who know what all is happening in the world.

I'm looking forward to a calm and quiet weekend after a tiring week. I will go and watch on saturday with office people. I already have the ticket in my wallet. Hope its a good movie.
This is funny. I dont understand why some people decide to make fool of themselves. That too infront of millions.

Apparantly some M$ funded company has published a "" that says Linus is not the Father of linux. We all laughed hard when we read that. But then the and now we know what really happened.

REALLY FUNNY STUFF. I laughed till the tears rolled out!
Looks like . I simply dont know how to react to this. Things are changing too fast for me.

In office, completed some pending stuff and thats all.
After two flash backs, I am back in the present.

Morning I packed my bags and came to office. Instead of Sunday, I am shift today at 6 in the eve! looking forward to live a new and better place! :)
Sunday:

Got up at 7:30 in the morning and got milk, bread, biscuits and eggs for the couple. They arrived at 8:30. Slept in the noon and went to cousins place in the evening. Played there with small kids, had fun, came back at 9:30. slept.

Sundays are always as simple as that! :)
Saturday:

Saturday morning I got up at 8 in the morning because maid was banging on the door. Got up, asked her to clean the house. Cousin and his wife were supposed to come on sunday. At 11:30 reached the new place and paid the advance. Deal is Done!. In the morning the house looked bright and well ventilated. Just the way i like it. Then went to a colleagues place for lunch. She had invited our team for lunch. The drive was horrible and it took us some 45 mins to reach there. But the house was REALLY good. So was the food :). We tried to play Bridge. Its a really simple game. I used to think that its a really difficult game for serious people. Then watched "Munnabhai MBBS" DVD. Came home, cleaned the house at night.
I was on the verge of giving it up when we went out to search a house today. Our usual estate agent was not available and so we called up a new agent. He said he has got a place for us. We went there. The approach road was not very great. And by the time we reached there I was like "ok.. one more house.. lets move on".. But.. The house was amazing.. well furnished with TV, washing machine, fridge, beds, rice cooker, mixer, matresses and an excercise cycle and we got a cheap deal too!

Without much thinking we took it and paid the token advance. Tomorrow morning we will go there and pay the money. I will shift there on sunday.

Mission Accomplished. Before the dead line.. as usual! :)
Just updated my profile and put one of my snap. Now this template looks a little better. :)
Having a nice friday at office today. Played a lot of Table Tennis.

Trying to settle down to the fact that India will be represented by an Italian in a few days. I dont know about the people below poverty line but upper-middle-class people like me are very upset about this. As far as the joke goes, people are saying that pizza prices will be slashed soon :). Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayi delivered his and resigned. Great gentleman and a great leader. He has put India on the map of the world. Although he is talking about retirement, I hope that somehow they will come back to power and he will lead the country again.
Interesting Information: Some guy just asked me about the size of linux kmesg buffer. In 2.4 kernel, its 16k for UP kernel. But in 2.6, they have a command line parameter to change it at the boot time.
The house we were planning to rent is rented out to someone else and we are back to square one. In the evening I will go out for some more house-hunt. Actually, its our fault because we dint follow it up with the agent. Its bad.
Yes, the loksabha election results have started to come and looks like its the begining of the end for the ruling BJP and its allies. So its official now that country has gone crazy.

I am a little pro-BJP but I dont care as long as the government is stable. And at this point looks like its anything but stable. A party with a few guys will be a deciding factor in the government's decisions and its scary.
World is going crazy. Given a choice I would have chosen to be born on . Its the biggest in the solar system and has four moons. Thats great but the biggest advantage is that it doesnt have "Al-quida".

As a protest to the prison abuse in abu-ghraib in iraq, these mad men beheaded one Americal civilian. They video taped it and released it on the net. Plain Evil! If it continues like this, one day I, not far from now, I will wake up, see the news paper with the same news but more gruesome snaps and without even blinking skip to the next page. They are killing humans and humanity. Shame on us.
Yesterday and today I have been doing a lot of fire fighting. Debugged some critical insects in my code. And found out, after a lot of debugging, that some bugs were not in my code. And just now I figured out that these bugs were because some b$#@%#@$ dint follow the specs!

I went home at 10 last night. Took a food parcel. Slept and got up at 10 int morning. Nice!

From yesterday, I am trying to upload my snap in my tripod account for my profile here. There seems to be some problem with my account and I could not login. I have mailed them. Lets see how good their support team is.
My old template was messed up. Trying the new default template. Doesnt look that bad. And a change is always refreshing. I still need to add a section for latest blogged links.
Just a few minutes ago, I experienced my first ext3 crash! Ofcourse, fsck did the trick. After a loooong time, I saw "(Repair filesystem)$" prompt. :)

Kernel 2.6.6 is released. Planning to upgrade by this weekend. I reboot my desktop only on kernel upgrades. My current uptime is 35 days. That means 2.6.5 was released a month ago. Linux rules!
*Sigh*

Just yesterday I added code to the template for comments and today they provide this feature natively.

Hey!! New blogger.com looks cool. Just checking it out. They are also supporting "keyboard shortcuts" ala gmail. Well done!

Last night, after a long (say a week), I played guitar. Feels like home when I play. :)
Oh yes, Yesterday I finished the Mark Haddon book (see the sidebar link). Good one. Recommended.
Now people can add comments here too. But I wonder if anyone is reading this. I hope not :)
After watching the movie we were talking about it. And I said that it is unbelievable that some can be that cruel. But then we realised what we had read in news papers in the morning.

They have published some pictures about the on-goings in Iraq, in a prison called Abu Ghraib. These are the pictures of some US soldiers (including some female soldiers) abusing, torturing, humiliating iraqi prisoners. One word, Disgusting!

Maybe they had orders to do that from above. These US people are 1st Grade Hypocrites! And now they will say "We just wonder why people in the rest of the world hate us so much!"! Damn!
Yesterday I saw . Amazingly well done movie. Technically it is one of the best movies I have seen. And its very effective too. Mel Gibson makes you feel pain and go through the torture successfully. That way he has done a VERY good job communicating what he wanted to communicate to the audience. But my question is, why would someone do a film to torture people? I question the purpose of the movie!

I am not a christian. I have not read the bible. I dont know why Jesus died or who killed him. I was a clean sheet. And after what they have shown in the movie, I get an impression that jews condemned him and that led to his death. I dont know the truth. This is from an outsiders point of view.

The sets, cinematography, backgroud score, performances and genuinity in general is shocking. Mel Gibson is one of the best directors in the world today. I think this film is worthy of many Oscars, including best irector and maybe best picture and not not mention all the technical awards. I am not sure about the best actor award but Jim Caviezel has done a very good job. But they dont give oscars to controversial films, do they?
It's sunday and I'm in office. I have to complete some work. I will go home by 8 or 9.
Just came back to office. Saw atleast 5 houses. We have decided on one and we will close the deal on thursday. Lets see what happens.
I got up in the morning. Took a peek at the watch. It was 8. Decided to sleep for 10 minutes more. Got up after 2 minutes. Took another peek at the watch. It was 9. TIME FLIES!

Yesterday we saw some more houses. Still no luck. Had dinner at "Woody's". Came by back rickshaw. Reached home after 10 and had to pay half-return fare. 100 Rs. for rickshaw is just a waste! This evening we will hunt for some more.

Last night the meeting went on till 10. After that I had dinner at a place near office called "Tandoor Hut". Friend dropped me home as it was raining and it was difficult to find a rickshaw. In the morning I woke up with an aching stomach. Has to be the previous nicght's food. Anyway, Its ok now.

Weather here continues to be amazing. And the makes me think about the rules we make to be happy. Good weather made me happy and five consecutive red cars make Chris, the 15 year old autistic narrator of the book, happy. It seems ridiculous at first. But when you think about it, its not weirder than rules we (as in normal people) have to be happy. I always thought that happiness is a state of mind and it has nothing to do with what you are doing or where you are. In theory, you can be happy if you decide to be happy. But again, in theory, :)
Just came back after meeting the landord of the place we were planning to rent. He wanted a commitment of 3 years (ya!! thats correct!! 3 years!!!) from us. And thats impossible. In the industry we are in and for our age this is absolutely impossible. We ourselved dont know whats gonna happen tomorrow, forget about two years. It means that we have to look for more houses from tomorrow. I am planning to shift out of my current place by 15th. Now that we have a deadline, I am feeling a little nervous and excited about this. No doubt I will meet and enjoy this deadline as usual :) (Thats optimism for you!)
Yesterday evening, I had gone for the house-hunt. Saw 3-4 houses with a friend (to be roomie) and decided on one. I will shift in a couple of weeks. Before that I need to buy aTV.

Weather here is simpley amazong. Temperature outside is 23 deg C. Thats cooler than room temperature. And its nice and windy also. Just like Lonavla. I'm loving it :)
Oh ya! I bought two more books in Mumbai
1) Tricky Business - By Dave Barry
2) The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - By Mark Haddon.

First one should be a typical Dave Barry, amazingly funny. And second one is an unusual but very good book. I am impressed by this Mark Heddon guy.
I just came back from a hectic four-day weekend. And I enjoyed it a lot! :) Dint catch any movie, all my bus rides reached late to the destination, temprature at Amravati was touchin 47 deg C. Even then it was an amazing fun trip. Out of four days, I spent three nights on the road. Someone jokingly (and rightly) said that I was sleepint at 60 km/hr on an average. The wedding at Amaraviti was well-planned beyond all expectations and it was the highlight of the trip. And the two-nights stay in bombay was made memorable by the amazing AC rooms at IIT bombay guest house.

In the flight to Bangalore, I met an old (but good) friend unexpectedly and had a nice time in the air.

In sometime I will go for a house-hunt. Lets see what happens.

Overall conclusion: I am tired but I am happy. :)

Body strikes back
For last several months (if not years) I have been abusing my body with bad habits. Good Morning

Man proposes, landlord disposes.

More books.

Hell of a trip!
